WHERE WE TEACH

Online Quran Classes in Australia

Australian families get the best scheduling of anyone we teach, and it surprises people. Because you are eight hours ahead of our tutors rather than behind them, your after-school and evening hours land in their morning — the freshest part of their day.

A 7pm class in Sydney is 11am in Cairo. No one is tired, nothing is squeezed, and evening availability is wide open rather than rationed.

Which class times actually work in Australia

Times below are Sydney/Melbourne. Adelaide is 30 minutes behind, Brisbane an hour behind in summer, and Perth three — the tutor's column shifts accordingly but the pattern holds.

Your local timeYour tutor’s timeWho it suits
3:30 – 6:00 pm AEDT7:30 – 10:00 amStraight after school, and the best child slot we offer anywhere in the world.
7:00 – 9:00 pm AEDT11:00 am – 1:00 pmAdults after dinner. Excellent availability — this is prime teaching time for tutors.
Weekend afternoonsMorningEasy to book, and the usual slot for a second or third weekly session.
Before 9:00 am AEDTAfter 1:00 amNot offered. Early-morning Australian slots are the middle of the night in every tutor country.

This is the mirror image of North America, where mornings work and evenings do not. Perth families have it easiest of all: 8:00 pm in Perth is 3:00 pm in Cairo. Note that Queensland does not observe daylight saving, so the Brisbane gap shifts by an hour each October and April.

For your own city rather than the country average, the class time converter works it out from your device’s clock, daylight saving included.

A small community spread across a very large country

Australia has around 813,000 Muslims — about 3.2% of the population — and they are concentrated in a handful of suburbs in Sydney and Melbourne. If you live in Lakemba or Dandenong, local options exist.

If you live anywhere else, the nearest qualified teacher may be in another state. Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Darwin and regional Queensland all have established Muslim communities and very few Quran teachers, and almost no female ones taking new students.

This is the clearest case for online study anywhere in the English-speaking world. It is not a substitute for something nearby; for most Australian families there is nothing nearby to substitute for.

The school year runs the other way round

The Australian academic year starts in late January and ends in December, with the long break over summer — the opposite of the northern hemisphere.

Worth knowing because our busiest intake is the northern September, which means January and February are quiet months with unusually good availability. An Australian family starting at the beginning of the school year will generally get first pick of tutors and slots.

The December–January break is also the best Hifz window in the country: six weeks where a child can go from three sessions a week to five without competing with school.

Common questions from Australia

Are evening classes really available, or will I be pushed to 6am?
Really available, and this is the standard Australian booking. 7:00 pm in Sydney is 11:00 am for a tutor in Cairo. You will not be competing for a scarce late slot the way American families do — in Australia the evening is the easy window and the early morning is the impossible one.
I'm in Perth. Does the three-hour difference cause problems?
It makes things easier, not harder. Perth is five hours ahead of Cairo rather than eight, so an 8:00 pm Perth class is 3:00 pm for your tutor — comfortably mid-afternoon. Perth has the single best overlap of any city we teach in.
Can you teach children in regional areas with slower internet?
Usually yes. A Quran lesson needs clean audio far more than it needs video, and the bandwidth required for audio alone is small. If your connection struggles, both sides turn video off and the lesson continues normally. We would rather do that than have you upgrade anything.
What does it cost in Australian dollars?
Roughly A$46 to A$122 a month depending on frequency. We bill in US dollars, so the exact figure depends on the rate and most Australian cards add about 3%. No joining fee, month to month, cancel whenever.
